May they all be one- John 17:21

Introduction

The International Ecumenical Movement-Kenya Chapter-IEM-K (formerly the Nairobi Ecumenical Group-NEG) is an ecumenical fellowship that brings together clergy and lay people from various Christian communities in Kenya

Background

IEM-K’s predecessor, NEG, had its beginnings in the early 1990s as a result of discussions between lay members of two neighbouring churches, St Paul’s Catholic University Chaplaincy and PCEA St Andrew’s Church in Nairobi.

These discussions eventually led to a desire for organising a joint prayer service for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. The principal persons involved in bringing this desire to fruition were Elder Solomon Gacece of St. Andrew’s and G. Wakuraya Wanjohi of St. Paul’s, the latter greatly supported by the St. Paul’s Prayer Group.

Core Values

  • Unity in Christian diversity
  • Understanding
  • Dialogue
  • Mutual respect
